Hi,
Hope you remember me from high school. It was sooo long ago.
Cara Fisher just sent me your web site. so cool.
I started reading Quilting Arts magazine about a year ago and bought a sewing machine.

I have done some fabric dying, just with rit dye and my kids helped. our clothes line pics don't look near as good as yours.

all the quilt shops here, still in SV school district, are traditional.

I have been trying to form an art group here. Not just quilters because I seem to not be able to find any other person interedsted in art quilts. Then again I'm a hermit.

As I've been trying to find people interest in forming a group, I kept thinking, please let me find some one interested in quilting.

I just gave you site a quick look need to go back over it.

I hope you have time to drop me a line.
I am over the moon to find some one else with these interests.

I live outside of Evans City. Husband, kids, dog and cats. Small house makes quilting a challenge. I like small art projects. would love try long arm. I know a woman who teaches long arm and rents her machine. so far have not tried it out.

I really hope to hear from you if you have a spare minute.

I just bought a bolt of that cotton/silk blend. After seeing how pretty yours dyed up I can't wait to play with them.

It certainly looks gorgeous as applique on that black!

Vicki,
I used the Sharon Schamber applique method --- where you use the glue stick and thick interfacing. And didn't do anything different than if it were cotton. You can even iron it on the cotton setting.

You are right, those silk/cotton blends are beautiful in the applique! Did you use the same process as if they were all cotton or did you ahve to add/change steps?
I don't blame you about the others - I'd keep them too! They are lovely!
